The end of the summer is here, and with it comes our journal on the best men’s autumn/ winter boots. As the days grow colder and nights draw in, we’re forced to retire our summer wardrobes for the foreseeable future. Jumpers are taken from the back of the cupboard, and your trusty seasonal boots make their annual appearance once again.
Being fashion-conscious guys with an eye for style, we like to think we know a thing or two about comfort and durability when it comes to footwear, and earlier this year, our post on Martel + Ram was a popular read. Keeping with the shoe theme, today we’re going through our top 5 Autumn/Winter boots here at Gents of London HQ. So, whether you’re searching for the perfect boot to crunch that crispy autumn leaf in, or something comfortable and stylish to aid the walk around the inevitable Christmas market, we’ve got you covered.
RED WING – THE IRON RANGER BOOT
The first pick on our list is one of our personal favourites, Red Wing.
Red Wing originated in America over 100 years ago and supplied shoes to the US military in both world wars. These boots are something else, and the versatility of this company is second to none. Perhaps their most popular series, the ‘Iron Ranger‘ boots, come in at a very respectable price (considering how long they last) and come with more than enough versatility to pair with any of your favourite autumnal looks.
GRENSON – THE DECLAN BOOT
Grenson boots date back to 1866 when William Green first created the company in Northamptonshire. British soldiers and the allied forces used, much the same as Red Wing, boots made by Grenson during the first and second world war. Offering a wide variety of shoes and boots, this company has kept up with the times. However, they offer quality and style you can only imagine has come straight from the 1800s.
Their ‘Declan‘ series of boots is a collection of some perfect Chelsea boots, and these would not look out of place in the workplace meeting or the office Christmas party (very versatile, no?).
WOLVERINE – THE DUBLIN BOOT
The company Wolverine were founded in Michigan in the USA way back in 1883. You’re a man who likes to get out and about with your dog. Whether you’re looking to go hiking, or hunting, even just a long walk through some fields, the Dublin boot by Wolverine is ideal for those cool autumn mornings. Maybe the weather has cooled down early this year, making it more like winter than autumn. With 100 years of expertise behind them and being one of America’s best selling footwear brands, you can count on Wolverine to keep your feet warm that little bit longer.
DR Martens - 1460
Few boot makers have the style and comfort of Dr. Martens. Whether you’re looking to upgrade your wardrobe or replace an old pair, these boots are sure to add a bit of grunge to your look. Built for style and efficiency, these iconic boots continue to stand the test of time. With a leather lining and rubber outsole, these boots are a rugged and comfy choice to keep you warm and dry. Dr. Marten uses some of the world’s finest hide to create this boot.
CLARKS – THE BATCOMBE LORD BOOT
Originally designed to give comfort and style to farmers, Clarks boots have stood the test of time. Popular in every decade since they were first made, they have been designed and recreated over the years. Last year saw the iconic brand add another clever variation, this time introducing a pair of smart brogues called the Batcombe Lord. For those who love a classic brogue but have a hard time getting their hands on a pair, now they come in easily wearable alternatives with modern detailing.
